CAR's Higher Utilization Supports Earnings Vehicle utilization improved to 72.6% in the second quarter from 70.7% a year earlier, an increase of 1.9 percentage points. The improvement indicates that Avis Budget extracted more productivity from a smaller fleet. Average rental fleet declined 5% year over year to 664,638 vehicles, while rental days decreased 2% to 43.9 million.
