South Korean Minister of Defense Kang Shin-chul stated on September 29 that North Korea planted an anti-personnel mine that exploded and injured South Korean soldiers on September 21.[1] Kang said that North Korea violated the Korean Armistice Agreement by deploying mines inside South Korean-administered territory and that the South Korean military will take “corresponding measures,” adding that South Korea has a “range of necessary options available and will implement them in stages.
