Defectors from Iranian-backed Iraqi militia Asaib Ahl al Haq have formed a new armed group with “significant” Iranian support, according to the Washington Post on September 30.[1] This report illustrates some of the obstacles that the Iraqi federal government faces as it attempts to disarm Iranian-backed Iraqi militias.
