Madrigueras, which has a population of around 4,000 residents, is located near the city of Albacete in the Spanish autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha. Authorities said 90 people had to be rescued due to flooding in the town. Local Spanish media said the elderly woman was found dead in her home after the floodwaters had reached a depth of one meter (3.2 feet). The floods in the region were caused by persistent torrential rainfall on Friday. Spanish authorities said around 140 liters of rainfall per square meter came down in Madrigueras.
