How Much of Marvell’s Adjusted Profit Reaches Shareholders?

Marvell Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) reported $865.9 million of adjusted net income in its fiscal second quarter, compared with $308 million under GAAP. Neither number alone answers what shareholders earned economically. The gap includes different kinds of costs, and treating every adjustment as either harmless or entirely artificial produces the wrong investment question. At September 30's $264.21 close, Marvell was worth approximately $231.69 billion. That price makes the distinction material: a company can grow rapidly and still leave a shareholder paying a high multiple of the cash that remains after reinvestment and dilution.
