Euro area annual inflation is expected to accelerate to 3.8 per cent in September 2026 from 3.2 per cent in August, with energy recording the sharpest price increase, according to a flash estimate from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union (EU). Consumer prices were estimated to rise by 0.6 per cent month on month (MoM). Energy inflation is projected to reach 18.8 per cent in September, up from 14.3 per cent in August. Energy prices were expected to increase by 3.9 per cent on a monthly basis, the estimate showed in a press release. Services inflation is estimated at 3.2 per cent, compared with 3.0 per cent in August, while inflation for food, alcohol and tobacco is expected to rise to 1.4 per cent from 1.1 per cent.
