Thousands of Imran Khan supporters began to make their way to the Pakistani capital Islamabad on Sunday as a slow moving convoy set off on an 80-kilometer (50-mile) trip that will take several days to complete. Some 5,000 supporters are traveling by bus, car and truck from northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party (PTI) holds power. March organizers say they intend to rally hundreds of thousands of supporters to Khan's cause along the way, hoping to bring about his release from prison as well as his transfer to a hospital where he can receive medical treatment and regular visits from his family. Government officials say Khan is in no need of hospitalization and that he receives regular visits already.
