Euro-area private-sector output accelerated to its strongest pace in more than three years in September, even as resurgent cost pressures pointed to inflation settling well above the European Central Bank's target. The S&P Global Eurozone Composite PMI climbed to 53.1 from 52.0 in August, the highest reading since April 2023, capping the bloc's best quarterly performance since the second quarter of 2022. A figure above 50 separates expansion from contraction. The services PMI rose to 53.0 from 51.6, a 10-month high and unchanged from the flash estimate. Activity in the sector has now expanded for three consecutive months, while manufacturing output also gained momentum.
