This was reported on Facebook by the Mykhailo Hrushevsky 11th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, according to Ukrinform. “The ‘Bolharychi’ carried out an operation—unique for Ukraine—to rescue cats that, for various reasons, had been left without owners and were at risk of remaining on the streets and dying of starvation,” the brigade reported. Military officials reported that, thanks to the help of local residents, they were able to evacuate six cats—born during the occupation—in an unusual way. The cats were placed in a cage specially designed for this operation, after which soldiers carried them through the air across the Dnipro River under the wing of one of the heavy bombers.
