Yaroslava Khortiani, chairwoman of the World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organizations (WFUWO), spoke about this in an interview with a Ukrinform correspondent. According to her, Ukrainian organizations had long failed to pay sufficient attention to systematic public information efforts, while Russia actively used this space to spread its own narratives. “In the past, we were severely lacking in this area—in ensuring that Ukraine informed the world about itself—and there was a lack of global understanding. We thought: if we help Ukraine, invest in civil society organizations, support homes for the elderly, children, and so on, then that’s supposedly enough. Meanwhile, Russia was waging an information war. We ended up falling behind,” she noted.
