Olli Rehn, a member of the European Central Bank (ECB) Governing Council and Governor of the Bank of Finland, said on the 6th that the ongoing rise in energy prices in the Eurozone has not yet shown signs of spilling over into other goods and services, adding that the recent increase in bond yields is likely to ease inflationary pressure by weighing on growth. He spoke to reporters in Helsinki. Eurozone inflation is currently running well above the ECB's 2% target, and policymakers continue to debate how much additional tightening is needed beyond the two rate hikes implemented this summer.
