European Central Bank (ECB) Governing Council member and Bank of Portugal Governor Pereira indicated on the 7th that no secondary spillover effects of the kind seen during the 2022 energy crisis have been observed in eurozone inflation trends at present. Speaking at a press conference in Lisbon, the governor noted that both current headline and core inflation rates remain substantially below the levels recorded during the 2022 energy shock triggered by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He added that there are no signs of inflation expectations becoming unanchored in other commodity prices.
