Hungary's consumer price inflation increased for the second straight month in September, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office said on Wednesday. Consumer prices climbed 1.6% year-on-year in September after rising 1.3% in August. Prices for services rose 4.9% from a year earlier, while those for consumer durables increased 1.2%. Food prices fell 1.3% year-on-year, compared with a 1.4% decline in August, while the decline in fuel and power prices softened to 4.0% from 4.3%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.2% in September, the same as in August. Data also showed that core inflation moderated to 1.9% in September from 2% in the prior month.
