Ireland's consumer price inflation accelerated further in September to its highest level in over two-and-a-half years, data from Ireland's Central Statistics Office showed on Thursday. The consumer price index climbed 4.1% year-on-year in September, up from 3.7% in August. This was also the highest inflation rate since January 2024, when prices rose by the same 4.1%. Inflation in transport climbed to 7.5% from 5.4%, while annual price growth in housing and utilities quickened to 9.5% from 8.5%. Costs for education services grew sharply by 8.5%, while inflation in food and non-alcoholic beverages rose slightly to 0.4% from 0.1%.
