A man was shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent during an arrest, New York City metropolitan police said Thursday. The shooting occurred at around 4 p.m. local time (2100 GMT) in the Marble Hill neighborhood of the Bronx, which is one of New York's five boroughs. Details are still emerging, but the New York Police Department has denied that its personnel were involved in the shooting. "The individual who was shot is at a nearby hospital and is currently conscious and receiving medical attention," the NYPD said in a statement. US President Donald Trump's administration has scaled up ICE raids in major US cities to detain and deport people who are in the US illegally.
