Mr Sánchez called Mr Bezos an "oligarch" who "wants to live on Mars" after the billionaire backed calls for Spain to build more houses rather than crack down on landlords. The Spanish prime minister this week called a snap election for Nov 29, hoping to tap public outrage about the eviction and death of Maricarmen Abascal, an 87-year-old Madrid pensioner. Last week, Mr Bezos endorsed a post on X by José Andrés, a Spanish celebrity chef, who had criticised the government's approach to the crisis.
