Why inflation is so persistent - eKathimerini.com

September’s consumer price index data confirmed on Friday that inflation in Greece is persistently higher than in the rest of the eurozone, and Eurobank has identified four main reasons. The Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) announced that the national Consumer Price Index grew by 5% last month, compared to 1.9% a year earlier and 3.8% in August. According to ELSTAT’s detailed report, four of the five commodities with the largest annual increases concerned energy products: natural gas 55.2%, heating oil 53.2%, diesel 38.8%, gasoline 22.5%. The top five are completed by price increases of 29.8%, in hotels.
