US: Justice Department probes Trump's press pool boycott for antitrust violation

The US Department of Justice announced on Saturday that it is investigating whether the White House press pool 's decision to halt coverage of President Donald Trump last month, violated the nation's anti trust law. Group boycotts among business competitors might violate US law, spokesperson Emily Covington said. "The Antitrust Division is simply investigating to determine whether these news organizations have violated the antitrust laws," she said. The networks under the scrutiny are ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and Fox News. Jose Zamora, the Committee to Protect Journalists' regional director of the Americas, criticized the administration's decision to investigate.
