US President Donald Trump has announced what he called an ‘energy ceasefire’ between Ukraine and Russia, after mutual attacks on energy infrastructure piled pressure on global energy prices. “Effective immediately, there is an ENERGY CEASEFIRE in the War between Russia and Ukraine. Both parties have agreed,” Trump wrote on social media on Sunday. “Do not break it! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had been pushing for a total ceasefire on Sunday and said he would organise elections if Russian President Vladimir Putin agrees to a 60-day ceasefire, as Russian attacks on Ukraine intensify.
