This week (October 12–16), New York stocks face a triple test: U.S. inflation data, remarks from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh, and third-quarter earnings from major banks. The September Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index (PPI) will be released back-to-back, and market participants are watching closely whether Warsh will signal the direction of monetary policy at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) annual meetings. Meanwhile, earnings reports from JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and other major financial institutions will kick off the earnings season. The U.S. Department of Labor will release September CPI on the 14th and September PPI on the 15th. Markets expect headline CPI to have risen 0.6% month-over-month in September.
