Inflation in the Czech Republic rose to a five-month high in September, driven largely by higher fuel prices, final data released by the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO) showed on Tuesday. Consumer prices increased 2.5% year-on-year, up from 1.9% in August and marking the highest inflation rate since April. The figure confirmed an initial estimate published on October 6. "This acceleration was again significantly influenced by prices of fuels," said Pavla Sediva, head of the CZSO's consumer price statistics unit. Transport costs surged 13.2% compared with a year earlier, while the decline in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages eased to 3.5%. Goods prices rose 1.2% year-on-year, while services became 4.6% more expensive.
