Indiana’s unemployment rate remains one of the lowest in the nation, and state leaders say they hope to continue building on this success. They’re doubling down on apprenticeships and second-chance programs to keep the momentum going. News 10’s Ben Verbanic spoke with Indiana Gov. Mike Braun about what this means for the Hoosier workforce. Indiana’s unemployment rate sat at 3.3% in August, well below the national average. Weekly unemployment claims have dropped more than 37% since late last year, while more Hoosiers are actively looking to get back to work. “So far, we have been fleet footed on a lot of those issues and that’s been part of our economic growth as well,” Braun said. The Braun administration points to a record year for apprenticeships.
