Consumer prices were 0.1 per cent higher in September than in August. The September increase was driven mainly by higher motor fuel prices. Motor fuels were 27.2 per cent more expensive year on year, after rising 23.4 per cent in August. Diesel recorded the sharpest increase, with the average price of a litre rising to €2.499 (~$2.81) in September from €2.369 (~$2.66) in August. A litre of petrol cost €2.448 (~$2.75), up from €2.333 (~$2.62), CBS said in a press release. On a short-term basis, September prices were 0.1 per cent higher than in August, while over the past ten years prices in September were, on average, the same as in August.
