Raw sugar futures just staged one of their sharpest seasonal rallies in years, and the timing could not be worse for a White House already facing restless voters at the grocery store and the gas pump. ICE raw sugar futures for March 2027 delivery closed at 21.13 cents per pound on October 15, according to Barchart. In mid-July, the same contract traded at 15.77 cents, per NH Futures’ July 15 grain report. That works out to a 34% gain in about three months. From the July 31 low of 15.28 cents, the rally reaches 38.3%. Sugar is one of the main costs for candy makers. It lands on top of a household budget already extended by gas and groceries.
