Raw sugar futures just staged one of their sharpest seasonal rallies in years, and the timing could not be worse for a White House already facing restless voters at the grocery store and the gas pump. Halloween candy just got more expensive to make, and it happened in a single season. ICE raw sugar futures for March 2027 delivery closed at 21.13 cents per pound on October 15, according to Barchart. In mid-July, the same contract traded at 15.77 cents, per NH Futures’ July 15 grain report. That works out to a 34% gain in about three months. From the July 31 low of 15.28 cents, the rally reaches 38.3%. Sugar is one of the main costs for candy makers. It lands on top of a household budget already extended by gas and groceries.
