“Over the past week, unidentified drones have been spotted repeatedly near the port of Eemshaven and at several other locations in the eastern part of Groningen province. Incidents have been reported in Meeden, Scheemda, and Zuidbroek,” the report said. Police are investigating the incidents. Western intelligence agencies suspect that Russia may be using drones to gather intelligence on critical infrastructure across Europe, although no concrete evidence has emerged to support this suspicion. According to an Eemshaven port employee, the first drones were spotted as early as October 3. Since then, they have been seen repeatedly at night and in the early morning. In the port area, flights over or near critical facilities require special authorization.
