UK's consumer price inflation rises to 3.5% in September 2026 - Fibre2Fashion

On a monthly basis, CPI rose by 0.4 per cent in September 2026, compared with little change in September 2025. The rise in CPIH annual inflation between August and September reflected upward contributions from six divisions, partly offset by downward contributions from three. Transport, particularly motor fuels, made the largest upward contribution, while restaurants and hotels made the largest offsetting downward contribution. Transport prices rose overall by 6.6 per cent in the 12 months to September 2026, up from 4.6 per cent in August, although they fell by 0.4 per cent on the month, compared with a 2.3 per cent fall a year earlier. The largest upward effect came from motor fuels: average petrol prices rose by 8.
