Ariel Investments, an investment management company, released its "Ariel Focus Fund" Q3 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The Fund declined during the third quarter of 2026 as higher interest rates, persistent inflation, rising energy prices, and geopolitical uncertainty created a challenging environment for value-oriented equities. The Fund's Investor Class returned -1.26%, underperforming both the Russell 1000 Value Index, which gained 2.61%, and the S&P 500, which advanced 2.30%. Stronger oil prices, improved production, and disciplined capital allocation supported energy investments, while recurring subscription revenue and growing adoption of AI-enabled products helped an information-services holding.
