Eurogroup President Kyriakos Pierrakakis on Thursday hailed European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde for her leadership during a period of economic uncertainty, following her announcement that she will step down on February 7, 2027 . In a statement issued on behalf of the Eurogroup, Pierrakakis thanked Lagarde for her contribution to the stability of the euro area and for strengthening confidence in the European single currency. “I express my sincere gratitude to Christine Lagarde for her outstanding contribution to the stability of the euro area and her leadership during these testing economic times,” he said.
