Police remained on duty in central Frankfurt on Sunday, 1 November, after riots broke out following a demonstration the previous day. Footage shows smashed shop windows, looted stores, burning barricades and debris scattered across the streets. Police used water cannon to extinguish fires and clear obstacles from the roads. Several protesters and police officers were injured, while 30 people were detained. The situation had calmed by early Sunday morning after police cordoned off parts of the city centre. Hesse state premier Boris Rhein condemned the violence, saying he was shocked by the events and that those responsible would face consequences.
