Karnataka’s cabinet approved the Nandini price adjustment amid increasing expenditure on feed, fodder, veterinary care and milk production. The brand is run by Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (KMF) and delivers about 25,000 litres a day to Goa. Of the additional Rs 8 charged per litre, Rs 7 is earmarked for farmers to help meet production and fodder costs, with milk unions receiving the other Rs 1. The revision brings the procurement payment for Karnataka’s dairy farmers to Rs 40 per litre. Parag Nagarsekar, chairperson of Goa Dairy’s Committee of Administrators (CoA), said the cooperative had no immediate intention of raising consumer prices because local producers already receive relatively high procurement payments.
