Euro zone factory activity kept expanding in October, though at a softer pace, as slower growth in new orders and higher energy and supply-chain expenses weighed on margins, a survey showed, according to Reuters. The S&P Global Eurozone Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index eased to 52.7 last month from 52.9 in September, a September level that had been the strongest since May 2022, and still topped a preliminary reading of 52.4. A figure above 50.0 signals an increase in activity. The data indicate producers are weathering tariffs, conflicts and soaring energy costs, yet climbing input prices intensify pressure on the European Central Bank to lift interest rates once more.
