Countries who use the euro as a common currency have until this Friday to nominate candidates to succeed Christine Lagarde as president of the European Central Bank (ECB). Eurogroup President Kyriakos Pierrakakis has urged member states to put forward candidates, a spokesman said on Tuesday. Lagarde announced last week that she would leave the central bank on February 7, almost nine months before the end of her regular term.
