“The NABU and SAPO have completed the pre-trial investigation into a high-level criminal organization whose members established a large-scale corruption scheme to exert influence over the operations of strategic state-owned enterprises, including JSC National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom, as well as to obtain undue benefits and launder money,” the bureau said. According to investigators, “members of the group systematically received undue benefits from contractors of JSC Energoatom and enterprises under the management of the Ministry of Energy, amounting to between 10% and 15% of contract values.” The task of laundering illegally obtained funds was assigned to a separate office operated by the criminal organization, the NABU noted.
