The country's unemployment rate moved up to 4.8% in October from 4.7% a month earlier, new Central Statistics Office figures show today. But the September figure of 4.7% was lower than the original reading of 5% for the month after downward revisions to previous months, the CSO said. The revisions mean unemployment in Ireland has been below 5% for seven successive months. The jobless rate has stayed between a near-record low of 4.1% and 5.1% since November 2021. Today's CSO figures show that the monthly unemployment rate for men in October was 4.7%, down from a revised rate of 4.8% in September and unchanged from October 2025. The monthly unemployment rate for women was 4.8%, up from a revised rate of 4.7% the previous month and also up from 4.
