Apple has restricted employees' use of AI in an effort to cut costs. The tech giant – the world's most valuable company – reduced engineering staff's daily usage caps from $300 (£223) a day to $200, according to Bloomberg. The company is reportedly considering further cuts to reduced the daily cap to $100 and slash non-technical staff's budgets from $100 a day to $25. It makes the company the latest to rein in employees' use of AI, amid concerns about costs and questions about productivity. Revolut, Britain's most valuable tech start-up, said this week that it had saved substantial sums by moving staff from using expensive "frontier" systems to cheaper Chinese models running on its own servers.
