The Bank of England has grown its data scientist and data analyst headcount by 19 per cent, according to new FOI data. This comes as the Bank has announced its latest interest rate decision yesterday, with the Bank Rate rising from 3.75% to 4%. The data was obtained via the Freedom of Information Act (FOI), and analysed by the Parliament Street think tank, observing the number of staff whose job titles contain ‘Data Scientist’ or ‘Data Analyst’, across the Bank’s 2023/24, 2024/25 and 2025/26 financial years. The Bank employed 224 staff data scientists and data analysts in the 2025/26 financial year , up from 189 two years earlier , as the Bank builds out its data capabilities.
