The September month-on-month decline was led by non-food products except automotive fuel, a category relevant to fashion and other discretionary retail. In the euro area, retail trade volume fell by 1.2 per cent for non-food products except automotive fuel and by 0.3 per cent for food, drinks and tobacco, while automotive fuel in specialised stores rose by 1.0 per cent, Eurostat said in a press release. Across the EU, retail trade volume decreased by 1.0 per cent for non-food products except automotive fuel and by 0.4 per cent for food, drinks and tobacco, while automotive fuel in specialised stores increased by 0.1 per cent.
